Workshops

Dutch Crossing

A Friday night demonstration of this challenging 8-couple contra/square is planned. Then on Saturday morning, Gaye Fifer will teach you to weave the complex interlocking patterns of the dance, which generates a transcendent sense of accomplishment and community. Here is video on YouTube showing the movements of Dutch Crossing, using origami paper cranes.

Waltz

What's a weekend without wonderful waltzing? Those terrific tutors of turning, Gaye Fifer and Wayne Albright, know all the best ways to spin your heels.

Tai Chi stretching

Caller Cis Hinkle will offer a way to stretch both mind and body on Saturday and Sunday morning.

Drum Set

Jim Roberts of FootLoose will host a percussion workshop. Bring your own noisemakers.

Knock knock. Who's there?

Ted Hodapp (who knows way too many corny jokes) will tell some of them as he emcees an audience participation Joke Show on Saturday night. How many light bulbs does it take to contra dance?

Basic Rapper-Sword

Morris dance without the bells. Ted Hodapp will provide an introduction to this challenging, fast-moving geometrical dance form.

FootSore

Be kind to your web-footed friends. And be kind to your feet, webbed or not. Camp doctor Susan Schmitt will explain how to tell when your feet are just tired from too much dancing (if there is such a thing) and when you should seek medical help.

Skirt the Issue

April Blum will show you how to make a skirt with a great “twirl factor.” Pattern and directions will be yours to keep.

Going for the Juggler

Frisbee freestyle world champion Gary Auerbach will demonstrate and teach frisbee juggling skills.

Digging It

University of MD’s John Merck will provide his expertise and guidance at the Camp’s fossil pit.
